Ondelo provides consulting services on network infrastructure design, integration, and optimization using well established open source tools and hardware. Our expertise lies in the following domains:
Expand / Collapse all.Bandwidth Management / Quality of Services (QoS)
Network is a shared resource. Bandwidth management allows optimization and more efficient use of this resource. Professionally, this is known as implementing Quality of Services - ability to provide specific priority to different users, applications, or data flows in order to guarantee a certain level of network performance.
Imagine two small companies sharing an office with one Internet line: Both companies have similar Internet needs, so they decide to split the costs equally. Without QoS, someone can inadvertently ‘monopolize’ the line by downloading several large files. During that time, everybody else in the office suffers from poor network speed. If you were the owner of one of these companies, wouldn't you want to be assured that the bandwidth you are getting is what you are paying for?
Another typical example of QoS application is setting traffic priority for specific protocols or applications: For example, setting higher priority for Voice over IP relative to regular web traffic would allow your Skype call to be less affected when your colleague checks a video on YouTube.Network Security / Firewalls
More and more applications become available online. But the growth of the Internet comes with an important downside: increase in the number and sophistication of cyber attacks. Running anti-virus software on your desktop computers is helpful, but it does not protect your network. Securing office network requires installation and configuration of a firewall.
We provide a firewall solution with flexible configuration to cover specific needs and requirements. It can be easily integrated with your existing network. Installation and operation of the firewall is completely transparent for the end users.Voice Over IP (VOIP)
We have expertise in VOIP setup and configuration that can transform your old telephony system into a modern Internet telephony system and services. Combined with bandwidth management services and Ondelo VPN solution that can securely link multiple offices, you can call anybody in your company, locally or internationally, without having to pay telco fees.
Virtual Private Network (VPN)
Virtual Private Network allows the establishment of secure communication channels over public Internet lines. Typically, VPN is setup to connect multiple regional or international offices together so that employees can access networked resources such as shared drives or printers as if they were at the same location. Similarly, it is also possible to allow mobile employees, for example sales representatives, to access the company network remotely.
We provide both types of VPN setup: inter-site and nomad. Our solution uses strong encryption to achieve this type of secured access.Proxy filtering / caching
Proxy solutions are used to save bandwidth by keeping a local copy (cache) of static web content. When your browser requests content from a web server, proxy service will determine if it has the latest copy in the local cache and serve it from there. This results in dramatic speed increase especially over a small Internet line.
Proxy solutions are also used for content filtering. Requests made from users browsers will be filtered through a set of allow / reject rules that will determine accessibility to the site/content. Sometimes, there are government, business or other regulatory requirements for companies providing Internet access to their employees to keep logs of each employee's activity on the Internet. Proxies allow such logging services.Load Balancing / Failover
Load Balancing is used by companies providing web, email and other Internet services for a large number of users. It is a form of workload distribution allowing more responsive service and better user experience. We provide customized load balancers for any service that you provide.
Failover refers to automatic switching to a redundant system for continued operation of a critical network component. Typically this consists of a pair of an active and a passive devices that are synchronized with each other. If the active device fails due to hardware failure, the passive one will take over. This configuration is often used to ensure the operation main routers and firewalls.
Load Balancing and Failover are completely transparent to the end users.
